Glow Bug

Poor little Tripp is as orange as a carrot!
So he has to turn into a glow bug!
The doctor said he is jaundice and has a high bilirubin. The average bilirubin number for his age is 10-12, and his was 17.1. If it were any higher, he would have had to be admitted and given an IV. So praise God it was checked before it got any higher! Even though it could have been worse, he is not a fan of the bili-belt and cries a lot, which means we are not big fans of the bili-belt either! He is even getting little rash/chafing marks where it rubs on his skin! We have had his bilirubin checked for three days now, with a slow decline in number, so we'll see tomorrow if we can finally take the bili-belt off our baby! The sun is also a good (and natural) way to get rid of jaundice, so we opted for a little sunbathing this afternoon, which was a nice break away from that terrible glow!
Even though we can tell he is uncomfortable, he is such a good baby and loves to be snuggled in our arms while he sleeps. He's quite a good sleeper at night already-in spite of his moaning because of the bili-belt. He only gets up to eat about 3 times!
So that's what Tripp's been up to for the last few days! We pray he gets better soon and is ready to come see his family for late-Christmas! Thank you for your prayers!

I saw that Sarah Palin's new grandson's name is Tripp. He was born Sunday. I am not in the know enough to know the significance of the name Tripp. Hope he gets the jaundice taken care of soon. May God richly bless your family
